YANELA PIÑERA
Born in Cuba, Yanela graduated from the National Ballet School in Havana. She danced with the National Ballet of Cuba for 11 years, where she was promoted to Principal Dancer at the age of 22. She moved to Australia in 2015 and joined Queensland Ballet as Principal Artist.
Yanela has performed principal roles in a wide range of classical and contemporary ballets by choreographers such as Alicia Alonso, George Balanchine, Kenneth McMillan, Jerome Robbins, Ben Stevenson, Liam Scarlett, Derek Dean, Trey McIntyre, Carlos Acosta, Greg Horsman, among others.
Yanela often performs in International Galas and Dance Festivals worldwide. She also has guested as Principal Dancer with the Kremlin Ballet, Texas Ballet Theatre, Gala Les Etoiles, and Gala’ Viva Alicia’ at the Bolshoi Theatre, among others.
